Summary of Job Details:

Reporting in to the Senior Director of Development for Donor Relations & Stewardship, the Assistant Director of Donor Acknowledgement and Recognition Programs oversees the central comprehensive gift acknowledgements and recognition communication programs designed to foster a culture of appreciation and to recognize the University’s key donors, as well as manages the interpretation and application of complex data for the entire unit. The Assistant Director provides expert analytical, strategic planning, project management and proactive department support for DRS. S/he maintains a substantial knowledge of University and divisional policies and procedures related to the acquisition and use of data, and the use and application of Advance in a major capital fund raising environment. This position is responsible for overseeing the Central Development donor acknowledgement process; managing the Central Development donor recognition programs as well as managing donor retention programs. S/he will work closely with the Senior Director, implementing strategic approaches to donor acknowledgement, recognition and overall donor relations communications, including the development of new programs. Additionally, the Assistant Director will exercise strong and effective leadership and will be responsible for the development of new tools, protocols, criteria and best practices around donor acknowledgements and recognition, including for building naming and signage.

In his/her role, the Assistant Director will be required to communicate in a highly professional manner with key constituencies including, the University’s top donors, development officers, UCSB faculty and staff, and students on a regular basis. Serving as the central point of contact for the central Donor Relations & Stewardship unit, s/he will be responsible for ensuring optimal alignment and best practices within Institutional Advancement. Strong analytic and project management skills, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work under shifting and tight timelines with the utmost confidentiality are required.

Bachelor’s Degree required.
