Position Summary

The LEAD Coordinator Assistant, under the general direction of the LEAD (Lived Experience Advocacy & Development) Outreach and Presentation Coordinator, is responsible for the trauma informed organization and implementation of the education programs, including Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA), NAMI’s In Our Own Voice presentations and Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR).  This includes assisting LEAD Coordinator in coordination of all LEAD functions, arranging and coordinating trainings and presentations, and collecting and submitting data from the courses to the LEAD Coordinator.

The position is expected to be knowledgeable of the agency’s philosophy and mission and is responsible for promoting this philosophy within the job role.

Hours/ Salary

Part-time, 20 hours per week. $16.00-$19.00 per hour depending on experience.

Minimum Requirements

Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be an individual with experience as a consumer of mental health services. Bilingual/ Bicultural preferred. Completion of facilitator training in MHFA, YMHFA, QPR & In Our Own Voice. Must be responsible, and reliable, and possess problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Knowledge of mental illness treatment and medications, as well as related systems such as Political, County Behavioral Health, Social Security, Vocational Rehabilitation etc. a plus. Dependable transportation and ability to travel within the county and state when needed. Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work style and strong oral/written communication skills.  Able to deal effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of age, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or socio-economic level. Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure. Well defined organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and flexibly. Must use reasonable precautions in the performance of one’s duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices while acting in such a manner as to assure at all times, maximum safety to one’s self, fellow employees, clients, and other persons contacted through TMHA business. Must have a strong commitment to the right, ability and choice of each person to live in a safe environment; develop a meaningful role in the community; and have access to competent and continuous supports and services. Conditions of employment include: Must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver’s License, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA’s current vehicle insurance requirements.  May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance.  Ability to possess and maintain good physical and mental health. Attendance is an essential function of this job that requires face-to-face interaction with clients and/or other employees.  Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, including booster, or request a medical exemption with a healthcare provider document advising against the vaccine OR an exemption based on a strongly held religious belief or practice per the California Department of Public Health. Those who request and are approved for an exemption will be required to test for COVID-19 weekly and send the results to TMHA’s Human Resources Director every 7 days.  Must comply with a TB assessment (possibly a TB test if needed to confirm a negative tuberculosis result) and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting.  Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
