DEPUTY DIRECTOR

 C.A.R.E.4Paws’ Deputy Director supports the Executive Director through staff and mobile clinic management and assistance with organizational management, event planning, fundraising and marketing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of staff, including our Client Support (administrative) team, the Mobile Community Medicine & Spay/Neuter Outreach (clinic) team and our Community Programs & Volunteer Coordinator, who leads the Companion Pet Assistance, Paws Up for Pets and Safe Haven programs.

  • Managing the operations our Mobile Community Medicine & Spay/Neuter Outreach, C.A.R.E.4Paws’ largest program. This includes overseeing the clinic schedule, our eVet database and special clinic events; working with vendors and facility managers; collaborating with animal welfare and human welfare partners; and working with veterinary staff to improve clinic procedures and protocols.
  • Working with our Community Programs & Volunteer Coordinator on program development and program operations as well as to increase volunteer engagement and recruitment.
  • Assistance with a variety of program administrative duties, including communications with clients, vendors and partners; reviewing and approving staff payroll with our bookkeeping team; and support with creating written protocols for some organization procedures.
  • Representation at and help with the coordination of three to four larger fundraising/community events.
  • Support with some fundraising and marketing tasks.
  • Participation in monthly Board of Director meetings to provide program updates.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience
  • At least three years of supervisory/staff management experience

SKILLS & TRAITS

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, creative and attentive to details
  • Skilled at problem solving
  • Integrity and compassion
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Adobe, Google Sheets and DonorPerfect
  • Flexibility and a valid driver’s license, as the position requires weekend hours and driving to locations throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties

ADDITIONAL, PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Humane resource (HR) experience
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • Experience in the field of veterinary medicine
  • Veterinary clinic management
  • Knowledge of animal sheltering and current animal welfare issues

GENERAL INFORMATION

This is a full-time, salaried position with employer paid health care benefits.

The position is remote but will require some attendance at mobile clinic events throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Salary range: $75,000-$80,000 annually including three weeks of annual vacation.
