Midland School, a distinctive, co-educational boarding school for grades 9-12, has an opening for an in-person, full-time Associate Director of Marketing and Communications. Our ideal candidate will embrace the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in Midland’s culture, campus, and history – seeing themselves as Midland’s storyteller. This position will manage all aspects of marketing outreach, and communication to our community – actively engaging with current and prospective families and students, alumni/ae, donors, and faculty and staff. The desired candidate will also bring a breadth and depth of marketing and communications experience with strong editing skills to expand the reach of our brand and mission. The position requires close collaboration with and support of Midland’s Admissions and Advancement teams and reports directly to the Director of Admission. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Own and oversee all brand narrative and content in day-to-day communication, web and social media content, authoring, coordination, reviews, digital campaigns, newsletters, publications, initiatives, and programs
• Perform copywriting, editing, and ghostwriting for all Midland branded materials (both internal & external)
• Establish growth goals and monitor metrics for all digital properties, ad placements, and Google Analytics
• Work with and manage media consultants, including graphic designers, videographers, and photographers
• Involvement and immersion in the daily campus culture, classrooms, events, and activities
• Collaborate with Directors of Admission and Advancement on outward facing marketing materials and campaigns
• Assist the Director of Admission with recruitment including domestic travel during primary admission season, conducting campus tours, hosting online events, and reviewing applications to make recommendations for new student admission
• Support the Director of Advancement in creating and implementing results-oriented fundraising programs and campaigns, including domestic travel for alumni gatherings
• Support Midland event marketing, coordination & day-of execution at both off-campus and on-campus events – e.g., New Student Arrival Day, Thanksgiving, Alumni & Parents Weekend, Alumni Reunion, School Fairs, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Relevant prior experience in marketing and communications
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills, including strong editing skills
• Some familiarity with the admissions process, academic marketing or recruitment
• Demonstrated knowledge of SEO, Wordpress, Basic HTML, Google Suite, Microsoft Office & Canva
• Demonstrated experience with social media best practices (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn)
• Ability to think creatively and innovatively, especially in response to rapidly changing circumstances
• Fervent attention to detail, problem solving and strong analytical skills
• Excellent project management and organizational skills
• Commitment to equity and inclusion
• Interest and enthusiasm for working in a non-profit, mission driven, independent school environment
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Successful passing of criminal and driving background checks
• Health clearance for TB screening

Desired Qualifications or Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher or 3-4 years of equivalent experience in a related field
• Working knowledge of fundraising, enrollment and marketing best-practices
• Boarding or residential educational experience
• Rustic living, experiential and outdoor education
• Familiarity with database management and metrics
• Consultant and/or team management experience
