The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians Foundation has a new Philanthropy Manager, Nick Gianis (NGianis@chumash.gov). Mayra Terrazas, Program Coordinator, is still the main point of contact for grant applications at materrazas@chumash.gov.
A few important notes:
- Their funding priorities will likely remain the same.
- The Foundation is now going to hold firm on only considering event sponsorship requests that are received 90+ days in advance of the event. Even if they have funded an organization in the past, sponsorship requests received less than 90 days prior will be declined.
- They do not want to fund similar organizations (duplication of services), so organizations should take care to explain how they are different.
- Applications are reviewed every two weeks during their two annual grant cycles, so it may be helpful to submit early in a cycle.
- The Foundation will support capital campaigns, but does not want to be first in the door or the only funder.
- In the past, they have not been strict about reporting but they do want organizations to submit reports. Reports should be emailed to chumashfoundation@chumash.gov.
