People’s Self-Help Housing Announces New Director of Acquisitions & Forward Planning

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –  Central Coast, CA, August 16, 2022People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH) has appointed a Director of Acquisitions & Forward Planning: Katherine Aguilar.

In this critical and strategic position, Katherine will site new affordable housing developments, negotiate development agreements, build partnerships and position new projects for multifamily development and construction. She will provide leadership in decisions of financial feasibility, shaping early project concepts, and business negotiations. She will also work to strengthen the organization’s working relationships with key housing stakeholders, all aimed at bringing more affordable housing to communities throughout the Central Coast.

Katherine was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and has been working in the affordable housing/development industry for over 8 years. Prior to joining PSHH, she worked at LA Family Housing, Abode Communities, California Home Builders, and the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles. In these positions Katherine secured over a billion dollars of project financing, worked on multiple rehab/new construction projects, including a modular development and single-family homes, and provided oversight for the development and construction of a robust portfolio of permanent supportive housing projects.

Katherine is passionate about providing a holistic approach to development including community engagement, services provision, and design. She is a Location Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) AmeriCorps Alumni, participated in their Housing Development Training Institutes, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and a Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning – both from UCLA. Katherine loves numbers and is an avid runner, completing various half-marathons and one LA Marathon from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica Pier.
