Deadline to Apply for SFSB Art & Honors Scholarships is November 15

High school seniors in southern Santa Barbara County have until November 15 to apply for 2023-24 art and honors scholarships offered by the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara. Honors scholarships are limited to students who excel academically; art scholarships are limited to students who excel in the traditional fine arts. Complete eligibility requirements and application instructions are available online at www.sbscholarship.org.

The Scholarship Foundation awarded 20 honors scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year, having received 178 applications. Honors applicants are evaluated exclusively on the basis of academic achievement. Twenty-one students out of an applicant pool of 48 received art scholarships for the current academic year. Recipients are selected on the basis of submitted works, as evaluated by a panel of judges. Art submissions must be original works of painting, drawing, sketching, photography, design, furniture, or sculpture.

“We always enjoy the evaluation process for art and honors applicants, as these scholarship programs routinely attract students who are remarkably bright and talented. In fact, each new cohort is seemingly more impressive than the last. We expect more of the same this year,” said Foundation Chief Programs Officer Len Smolburd.

Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara is the nation’s largest community-based provider of college scholarships, having cumulatively awarded more than $140 million to some 60,000 county students since its founding in 1962. A nonprofit organization, the Scholarship Foundation also provides free financial aid advising services. For additional information, visit www.sbscholarship.org.
