Applications Available Now for PSHH Home Ownership Program in Nipomo

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Central Coast, CA – January 10, 2023People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH) has released applications for their newest home ownership project: Summer Holly Lane.

Located in Nipomo, San Luis Obispo County, this new construction will see a group of owner-builders constructing a neighborhood of 10 two-story homes located at the intersection of West Branch and North Thompson. Each home will have 3-bedrooms, 2½ bathrooms and two car garages. They will also come equipped with energy-efficient features and PV solar.

The PSHH Home Ownership program assists households in the construction of new homes. Groups working together under professional supervision are taught the basic construction skills necessary. Each group contributes approximately 40+ hours per week of ‘sweat-equity’, over a 12-13 month period, This sweat-equity, used in lieu of a cash down payment and with the help of a low interest mortgage, helps low-income families become homeowners.

“This program has been the sustained heartbeat of our organization since its founding in 1970,” said Sheryl Flores, PSHH Vice President of Home Ownership. “We are thrilled to bring a new neighborhood to SLO County and to provide more opportunities for individuals to achieve the stability and wealth-building opportunity of home ownership.”

Eligibility requirements for participation in Summer Holly Lane include:

  • Annual income of at least $48,000
  • Good credit and rental history
  • A commitment to work 40+ hours per week in Nipomo building the homes, mostly on weekends

  • San Luis Obispo County Maximum Income Limits:
