About Veggie Rescue
Veggie Rescue is a Central Coast nonprofit dedicated to rescuing fresh produce and food donations and redirecting them to the people who need them most. We work with farmers, retailers, and food businesses across Santa Barbara County to recover good food before it goes to waste and deliver it to a network of more than 70 nonprofit partners, including shelters, food pantries, and senior centers. Every pound we rescue has a direct impact on food security in our community.
Position Overview
We are looking for dependable, mission-driven drivers to join our team on a part-time, seasonal, or on-call basis. In this role, you will be on the front lines of our work, picking up food donations from local donors and delivering them to nonprofit organizations throughout the county. Scheduling is flexible, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts during our busy season.

Responsibilities
- Pick up produce and food donations from farmers, retailers, and other donors
- Deliver donations to nonprofit partner organizations in a timely and safe manner
- Handle food items with care, maintaining quality and cold chain standards
- Complete basic driver logs and pickup/delivery records using our mobile app
- Keep assigned vehicles clean and report any maintenance needs promptly
- Represent Veggie Rescue professionally with donors and partner organizations
Qualifications
- Valid California Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout a shift
- Must pass a background check
- Comfortable with flexible scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Reliable, punctual, and self-directed
- Passion for food recovery and community service is a genuine plus
No prior food rescue or nonprofit experience required. Paid training is provided.
Compensation
$25 per hour
