The Marketing Manager has overall responsibility for all SBMM marketing, both internal and external. Works with all departments to promote SBMM exhibits, education programs, events, fundraising efforts, museum attendance and awareness. This is a full-time benefitted position, approximately 32 hours per week. The Marketing Manager will report directly to the Executive Director and manages the museum’s Marketing & PR Coordinator and Social Media Consultant and works closely with the museum’s Graphic Designer.
Job Duties Include:
- Overall management of the SBMM website, working with the web designer and staff as needed
- Overall management of all social media, including analytics reporting, working with staff as needed
- Planning, designing, and purchasing all media buys, working with staff as needed
- Create and manage processes and protocols across departments for all marketing related materials
- Manage all museum surveys
- Manage all museum email campaigns, including updates and Currents Newsletter, working with staff as needed
- Final approval of all marketing materials, including proofreading of all materials that go out to the public, working with staff as needed
- Represents the museum at museum events and out in the public
- Works to broaden the outreach of SBMM marketing efforts outside of current market zones, working with local and regional organizations
- Manages partnerships with local and regional community organizations
- Oversees the branding of all museum marketing efforts
- Manages and organizes the museum’s marketing photo collection
- Oversight of all press releases, brochures, flyers, signage and any other museum marketing materials, working with staff as needed
- Creates and manages the media / marketing plan and calendar, working with other staff as needed
- Oversees implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies to create awareness of the museum’s business activities
- Supervising the staff/department and providing guidance and feedback to other marketing professionals
- Producing ideas for promotional events or activities and organizing them efficiently
- Monitors progress and submits performance reports
- Acts as liaison to the Marketing Committee
and organizing the company’s publications
Skill Needed Include:
- Proven experience as Marketing Manager

- Up to speed with current and online marketing techniques and best practices
- Thorough knowledge of web analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, WebTrends etc.) and Google Adwords
