The Flower Empower Coordinator leads Dream Foundation’s volunteer-driven Flower Empower program that delivers floral bouquets, fresh-baked cookies, fine chocolates and handmade cards to those in the community that need a little extra joy in their day. This entails being part of the Dream Foundation staff, coordination with flower growers, florists, and volunteers, outreach to interested parties to donate or volunteer, as well as assisting in the yearly Flower Empower Luncheon and other events. This is a 20 hour per week position and Saturday morning is a mandatory workday. Two half days are required in office to attend staff meetings and update records.
The candidate must have an outgoing personality, be a good communicator, responsible, very organized, flexible, and able and willing to multitask.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Describe Flower Empower program and volunteer opportunities to interested parties
- Recruit volunteers and communicate our needs regularly
- Stewardship of current growers and florists and outreach to potential new flower sources
- Stewardship of current recipient referral sources and outreach to new potential referral sources
- Engaging service organizations and being the liaison for such organizations (NCL)
- Flower, cookie and chocolate pickups on Fridays, flower pickup on Thursday mornings
- Organize Flower Empower bouquet making on Saturday
- Recruit volunteers for Saturday and Thursday bouquet making and deliveries
- Order supplies as needed
- Keep Flower Empower van in good driving order, schedule services and cleaning
- Tracking volunteer hours, flower donations, and bouquet numbers weekly
- Outreach to Dream Clubs at high schools and service organizations to keep card supply sufficient
- Schedule special Flower Empower days for Dream Clubs and other local organizations
- Actively post photos to the Flower Empower Instagram account
- Serve on volunteer event committee and as Dream Foundation Staff for the yearly Dream Foundation/Flower Empower fundraiser, the Flower Empower Luncheon – Attend committee meetings
- Attend Dream Foundation staff meetings
- Spread awareness of Dream Foundation to volunteer-base by profiling recently completed or current Dreams regularly
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Respectful and professional conduct
- California driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to drive and park a Mercedes Sprinter van
- Able to lift heavy flower buckets
- Experience working with volunteers
- Computer savvy (MS Office Suite, File Maker Database)
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in a collaborative, professional team-oriented organization with all members of Dream Foundation staff
