Temporary position working 40 hours a week. Position located in Lompoc but will require countywide travel. Position starts out between $17.00 – $19.50 per hour and includes sick leave accrual and eligibility to enroll in the retirement plan.
The Facilities Maintenance Worker will perform a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance of facilities and other areas under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform general painting, plumbing and carpentry and cement work as needed.
- Perform general building maintenance work as assigned.
- Follow schedule and directives provided by supervisor
- May handle complaints and answers questions from staff.
- Maintain logs of daily activities.
- Pick up and haul trash found is assigned areas.
- Ensure the safety of children, parents, and staff at all times
- Ensure all tools, chemicals, and material (building and otherwise) are out of reach of children.
- May perform buying duties when necessary.
- Calculate costs of orders, and charge or forward invoices as appropriate.
- Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer.
- Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
- Clean and maintain supplies, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisor.
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Two years’ experience in construction or facilities maintenance repair work including some semi-skilled assignments is desirable.
Computer Skills: To perform this position successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current valid California Driver’s license and appropriate insurance per Agency requirements. Must have reliable transportation with an acceptable driving record as determined by agency.
Other Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of principles and practices of maintenance and repair activities related to buildings and facilities. Provide verification of State required vaccines upon hire for: Influenza (from August 1 to December 1), Pertussis, and Measles. Acceptable verifications include immunization record and physician statement. Exceptions to vaccinations: Flu can be waived by completing annual waiver.
