About Angels Foster Care

Angels Foster Care is a non-profit foster family agency serving abused, neglected, and abandoned children from birth to age 5, and their resource families (aka “foster” families) throughout Santa Barbara County and Southern San Luis Obispo County. Our agency works with approximately 40 foster children, and their resource families, each year. Angels Foster Care families have provided safety, stability, and nurturing care for more than 310 babies and toddlers in foster care since our inception in 2006.

Position Summary

Angels Foster Care is seeking a dedicated, dynamic, innovative Executive Director who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable infants and toddlers. Working with staff and reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for operational leadership, formulating and achieving agency objectives, strategic planning, fundraising, regulatory compliance, legislative advocacy focused on improving the well-being of children in foster care, securing the funding necessary for sustainability and program expansion, and oversight of the budget.

 

This is a county-wide position. Angels Foster Care has offices in Northern Santa Barbara County (Old Orcutt) and Southern Santa Barbara County (downtown Santa Barbara).

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of Angels Foster Care service delivery and organizational management
  • Works in partnership with the Board of Directors and staff to develop strategic plans that align with the organization’s mission, values, vision, and long-term objectives
  • Develops evaluation plans, tracks key performance measures, and implements programmatic improvements
  • Informs the Board about internal issues and external developments that may affect the organization
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and contracts
  • Manages financial planning, reporting, and budgeting to meet the agency’s short and long-term goals
  • Ensures financial stability by maintaining healthy cash flow and reserves
  • Ensures policies and procedures are in place and consistent with the organization’s culture and vision
  • Fosters a collaborative, supportive, respectful, diverse, and culturally relevant workplace environment
  • Creates and nurtures positive relationships with key stakeholders including Child Welfare Services administrators, private foundations, donors, volunteers, elected officials, and community partners
  • Oversees recruitment of new Angels Foster Care families
  • Serves as the Agency’s primary spokesperson
  • Serves on community committees, task forces, networks, and boards
  • Oversees all development activities including fundraising campaigns and events, donor relations, and grant writing

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, behavioral science, or a related field. Graduate degree preferred
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of social work applicable to children in foster care
  • Experience leading a non-profit organization serving young children and/or children in foster care is highly desirable
  • A minimum of five years of experience in progressively responsible senior management roles
  • Experience administering programs, managing budgets, facilitating the strategic planning process, fundraising, grant writing, and implementing an organization’s vision and mission
  • Strong problem-solving skills and conflict management skills
  • Ability to manage change, build coalitions, and work cooperatively, collaboratively, and diplomatically with a variety of diverse stakeholders
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance
  • Experience negotiating and managing contracts
  • Ability to ensure program policies, procedures, and guidelines are fully and consistently implemented
  • Experience effectively managing teams and motivating, mentoring, and developing staff
  • Ability to develop evaluation plans and articulate outcomes to support program improvement and growth
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Public speaking and public relations experience

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain criminal record clearance
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license, car insurance, and an acceptable DMV record
  • Must have a reliable source of private transportation

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range for this position is $100,000/year – $150,000 per year
  • Benefits package includes holidays, paid time off, optional retirement plan and health insurance
