About the Law Office of Marc Chytilo (LOMC):

LOMC is a small public interest, environmental law firm with a long history of significant environmental accomplishments throughout the region. LOMC counsels and represents nonprofit organizations, community groups and individuals to advance environmental protection and community betterment, primarily in Santa Barbara County, CA.

About the Position:

Working with a team of three and supervised by an attorney, the Executive Assistant is a multi-function utility person that plays a central role in LOMC’s daily operations and work flow. The Executive Assistant works closely with the Owner/Attorney on administrative matters to ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently and to provide support to legal and program staff. This position requires a self-directed person capable of managing multiple assignments on deadlines with variable levels of urgency.

Job Responsibilities:

Executive Assistant/Administrative Duties:
● Provide effective executive administrative support to the Owner/Attorney
● Support office in administrative and clerical tasks
● Organizing, filing and indexing legal materials and case documents
● Client and Vendor management
● Database management
● Document preparation and filing

Office Management Duties:
● Manage office accounts and vendors
● Mail and correspondence
● Oversee Bookkeeping, Accounts payable and payroll
● Oversee the day-to-day work and efficiency of workflow
● Oversee HR and Personnel
● Manage and ensure effectiveness of supportive platforms (Asana, Google Workspace, TimesSlips, etc)

Program Staff Support Duties (DOE):
● Research and writing
● Grant writing and program administration
● Communications
● Community organizing
● Database Management

Job Qualifications:

Education
● A wide variety of education and experiences will be considered.

Skills & Qualifications
● Minimum of two (2) years relevant professional experience
● Familiarity with local community leaders, groups and issues
● Background, education and/or training in environmental matters
● Ability to work productively and reliably, with excellent follow through
● Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
● Effective project management, time management and organizational skills
● Ability to travel on work-related business within Santa Barbara county
● Ability to manage confidential information
● Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, file sharing portals such as Google Drive and Box; project management software (Asana)

Additional Qualifications of Interest:
● Paralegal experience or training
● Nonprofit fundraising and development experience, including Grant writing
● Media and Communication experience
● Community and grassroots organizing experience

Compensation & Location:
● 30 hr/week, salary or hourly, TBD
● Compensation package competitive and commensurate with experience
● Typical Work Hours and Days are 10am- 4pm, Monday – Friday, with considerable flexibility and opportunity for partial remote work
● A majority of work hours will be spent in office space with some remote work options
