Santa Barbara, CA – The Towbes Foundation is a private family foundation founded in 1980 by Michael and Gail Towbes to strengthen communities in Santa Barbara County. It has granted over $25 million to more than 400 organizations on California’s Central Coast and now manages $100 million in assets. Led by the second generation of the Towbes family, the Foundation focuses on helping children, youth, and families thrive through connection, emotional resilience, and psychological well-being.
As it enters a new phase of growth, the Foundation is exploring innovative funding strategies, including program-related and mission-related investments, alongside traditional grantmaking. The Director of Finance & Investments will play a key leadership role in overseeing financial operations, investment strategy, compliance, and organizational systems, while helping align financial performance with mission-driven impact.
