Responsible for managing incoming requests for counseling services from monolingual Spanish speaking callers; conducting initial client contacts and screening callers to determine their appropriateness for the Counseling Center level-of-care; assessing the clinical needs and urgency of clients requesting counseling and psychological assessment services; providing callers with external community-based resources when needed; interfacing with external service providers referring monolingual Spanish speakers when needed; consulting with Clinical Director to make assignment determinations to bilingual counselors; tracking clients as they move through the intake process.
All responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with established professional and ethical guidelines and established policies and procedures of the Counseling Center. The position requires an exceptionally strong clinical emphasis in assessment and evaluation and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced, high volume clinical environment. This position can be remote or hybrid.
- Manage all incoming requests for counseling services by phone, website, and outside referrals.
- Conduct and complete Request for Service screening interviews and provide service recommendations for clients seeking counseling and psychological services whose problems range from severe psychopathology through normative developmental and interpersonal concerns. Educate clients on Counseling Center services and refer clients to other professionals or resources as appropriate to ensure optimal service provision.
- Provide telephone, video, and/or in-person triage, crisis evaluation, and crisis management for clients seeking mental health services to assist in the prioritization, scheduling, and assignment of new clients.
- Collect, track, and analyze data as it relates to client services, grant administration, program evaluation, curriculum development, and agency accreditation.
- Maintain clinical records in accordance with Counseling Center policies and state/federal regulations.
- Participate in training to maintain or enhance job skills.
- Maintain and utilize knowledge of community resources.
- Perform, as assigned, other administrative responsibilities associated with intake coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex clinical situations (e.g. crisis situations, severe psychopathology, suicide and homicide assessment).
- Ability to make clinical assessments and use clinical judgment quickly.
- Knowledge of developmental issues at all ages.
- Demonstrated experience in providing culturally competent services to a diverse client population.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability and willingness to contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently within a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Understanding of the ethical and legal issues involved in the provision of clinical services.
- Experience and demonstrated ability in using information technology and computerized databases.
The Clinic Spanish Intake Coordinator is a part-time position with an expected work schedule of approximately 5-10 hours weekly (hybrid or remote). Overtime is available when needed and is only applicable when preapproved. Must have a working vehicle with liability insurance and pass a background check. The hourly pay range is $21.00 – $25.00 per hour non-exempt with sick and vacation time accrual. Position begins immediately.
