YouthWell presents Develop your communication style to increase connection, a free virtual workshop on Sunday, March 13, 4:30 – 6:00 pm

Students (ages 10-25), parents, and those working with youth will learn to strengthen relationships through active listening and constructive responding. Build empathic listening skills to better interact with family, friends, youth, and co-workers. Learn how to support a friend you are both concerned about.

The workshop speaker will feature Michael Takahara, Health Education Specialist at UCSB. Takahara has a passion for health and wellness and shares “it allows me to give back to the community that made me who I am. I love helping students develop meaning in their lives, building their skills, strengthen their positive relationships, achieve their goals, and increase their positive emotions”.

YouthWell provides monthly Wellness Workshops for youth, parents, caregivers, and those working with youth, in order to eliminate stigma, open up conversations about teen mental health and connect families to resources. The Wellness Workshops are designed to empower parents and youth in Santa Barbara County with a strength-based approach providing tools that promote connection, wellness, and self-care in order to build resilience so we are all better equipped to cope with stress and challenging situations.

“Every workshop I have attended with YouthWell has had great speakers & valuable information. The information I have learned has made my family’s & my life better. Grateful!”

About YouthWell

One of the biggest reasons people don’t seek help or support when they are struggling with a mental health challenge is because of the stigma and shame associated with it. YouthWell focuses on education, prevention, support, and early intervention, connecting youth through age 25 and their families to mental health and wellness resources before the crisis. YouthWell also provides an online Youth & Family Mental Health & Wellness Resource Directory for Santa Barbara County.
