The Association of Fundraising Professionals Santa Barbara/Ventura Counties Chapter is thrilled to announce the anticipated National Philanthropy Day on November 14. The festive event will take place at the scenic Santa Barbara Zoo. Originally introduced locally in 1987, National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is an occasion that shines a light on the tremendous impact of philanthropy and celebrates the remarkable individuals within our community who have contributed significantly to enriching our world through volunteering and service. This event provides a unique opportunity for us to pause and reflect on the profound meaning of giving and the incredible achievements it has made possible.

The 2023 honorees represent a diverse tapestry of community members across both counties:

  • Philanthropist of the Year, Santa Barbara County: The Ann Jackson Family Foundation
  • Philanthropist of the Year, Ventura County: Doug Yarrow
  • Volunteer of the Year, Santa Barbara County: Ahmad Nooristani for Savie Health
  • Volunteer of the Year, Ventura County: Mary Looby for Ventura County Fire Department Community Service Volunteer
  • Professional Fundraiser of the Year: Stephanie Wilson, CFRE at Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum
  • Youth in Philanthropy: Jackson Gillies
  • Champions for Social Justice: Simone Akila, Jordan Killebrew, and Chiany Dri at Juneteenth Santa Barbara

The festivities will culminate in a splendid award ceremony, complete with an elegant cocktail reception, where the honorees will be officially recognized for their outstanding contributions. The Chapter’s Co-Presenting Sponsors are Montecito Bank & Trust and the Santa Barbara Foundation. The NPD’s Chair and past AFP SBV Board President, Molly Kemper, shared: “Join us for this extraordinary occasion, where the joy of giving takes center stage, and the heartwarming stories of our honorees inspire us all to reach greater heights in our own acts of kindness and generosity.”
