Ballot measures shape the conditions our communities live in, and nonprofits have an important role to play in helping bring clarity and values into those decisions. As part of The Fund for Santa Barbara’s commitment to strengthening grassroots power and long-term movement capacity, this two-part workshop series supports 501(c)(3) organizations in stepping into public leadership through mission-aligned and collaborative approaches to ballot endorsements.
In the first session, we’ll focus on building internal alignment through a process rooted in shared leadership and accountability– covering endorsement committee formation, board engagement, and clear, values-aligned decision-making structures.
In the second session, we’ll shift outward to explore how to communicate endorsements with intention—crafting narratives that connect to your mission, creating accessible materials, and sharing your positions in ways that support community understanding and engagement.
Grounded in practical tools and real-world examples, participants will receive customizable templates and toolkits to support ethical, strategic, and mission-aligned participation in ballot measure advocacy—strengthening both internal cohesion and collective public voice.
In addition to the workshops, participating organizations will have access to office hours for tailored support in building and implementing their ballot endorsement processes.
