Good afternoon,
We would like to invite you, family, staff, and friends to FIST and STAR Generation’s first annual celebration and awards ceremony. Our nonprofit serves people impacted by incarceration and gangs, and we are reaching a meaningful milestone: one full year of operating our shared living home for men returning from incarceration and navigating reentry. We want you to celebrate with us, hear the challenges we’ve faced, and recognize the successes we’ve earned.
As we mark this milestone, we want to honor the people who are part of this program and the individuals and organizations who have helped along the way. Too often, the people we serve never get the chance to come together and celebrate achievement. Where we come from, success is met with put-downs, harm, and self-destruction — gang life robs us of the very essence of hope. In this space, we are doing the opposite. We are bringing hope back to lives that incarceration and gangs have taken so much from, and declaring that we can do so much more with our lives than the streets ever offered us.
Help us celebrate, so that together we can spread opportunity, purpose, and a new identity to many more.
This is a free, adults-only event with food provided, and we do hope to raise funds to continue this work — but all are welcome to come, share, and hear the message. If you plan to attend, please register so we know how many to expect, and let us know if you’ll be bringing a guest.
