The Indigenous Reparations Team of the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara is excited to host a screening of the film, 6 Generations on Friday, June 7 at 7:00 PM.

We are honored to have Ernestine Ygnacio-De Soto, a Chumash Elder, and Tina Foss, a local historian and professor, to be present for an insightful Q&A after the screening of 6 Generations.

6 Generations explores the lives of six generations of Chumash women, from the Spanish Mission period through present day. The film includes Ernestine’s mother, Mary Yee, the last native speaker of the Chumashan kaš wa language, and her work to preserve the language. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about the perseverance and endurance of the Chumash peoples.

All are welcome to attend this free event. Light refreshments will be provided. Donations are welcome.
