This documentary film event is the kick off event of Santa Barbara’s Pride Week. This story highlights the Imperial Council’s journey, from creating safe spaces and building community in San Francisco to becoming a powerful force in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. For more than 50 years, the Imperial Council has combined pageantry, fundraising, advocacy, and community service to strengthen LGBTQ+ communities across North America. 50 Years of Fabulous shines a light on the volunteers, activists, and community leaders whose passion and generosity transformed countless lives, raising millions of dollars for charitable causes, and its ongoing work to protect and advance civil rights for future generations.
Post film discussion to follow with the film’s producer David Lassman, and the Santa Barbara Gay Men’s Chorus will open and close the event.
