Activating Equity in the Central Coast
Live virtual event on Wednesday, October 19, 2022
9:00 am – 12:30 pm PDT
Generously sponsored by The Foundation Roundtable for more than 25 years, the Partnership for Excellence (PFE) convenes hundreds of Santa Barbara County nonprofit and foundation staff and leaders to learn, network, and collaborate together. This fall, join us on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 for a virtual event focused on connecting members of the philanthropic sector, centering data for action, and advancing equity in our region. Our facilitators include leadership from the Central Coast Regional Equity Initiative, The Fund for Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Foundation and the UCSB Center for Evaluation & Assessment.
VISION
On October 19th, Partnership for Excellence will serve as a space for our community to engage in meaningful and action-oriented conversations centered in equity. Advancing equity calls us to:
- Learn: understanding the principles of equity and supporting research
- Engage: recognizing disparities and inequities, and accountability in our individual and organizational work
- Actionize: creating opportunities for organizational and collaborative change in the spirit of a shared vision of a more just and equitable Central Coast
We’ll be guided in discussions by two independent, community-informed resources from our region. Drawing on local research, we’ll lift up opportunities for deeper understanding of regional disparities and inequities in our sector. You will be invited to engage in community conversations centered in both our experiences and curiosity. We hope you come away feeling empowered, energized, and ready to advance equity in the spirit of your mission and community.
The Central Coast Regional Equity Initiative aims to deepen our understanding of regional disparities, facilitate a region-wide multi-sectoral conversation, and advance social, health, environmental, and economic equity through a community and research-informed action framework. Drawing on community-informed, intersectional equity data and insights from community organizations advancing equity in their own work, the initiative actionizes around addressing regional inequities to move the Central Coast towards a just and equitable future.
The State of Nonprofits in Santa Barbara County Report provides the most up to date and holistic picture of Santa Barbara County’s social sector, highlighting demographics and data on the financial health of the sector as well as current trends in demand for service, organizational capacity, employment, diversity in leadership, and other sector trends.
PROGRAM
PFE programming will be offered with simultaneous and consecutive Spanish interpretation.
Framing the day will be the Central Coast Regional Equity Initiative and The State of Nonprofits in Santa Barbara County Report. We’ll explore the importance of research and opportunities for it to inform our work. From multiple dimensions, sessions will offer opportunities, examples, and highlights from local organizations and leaders. Community Conversations breakouts will provide facilitated discussions for you to share approaches and experiences, inspire partnership, and begin to strategize equity action steps.
Join us as we learn more about how we can strengthen our sector to advance equity – both in our organizations and in our greater philanthropic community– to co-create a more just and equitable Central Coast.
