Happy International Women’s Day!
In honor of Women’s History Month, we are featuring the many women who have made lasting impacts on our community with the Santa Barbara Foundation.
We want to highlight Clara Hinton Gould, Santa Barbara Foundation’s first female benefactress. Clara moved to Santa Barbara from New York back in 1885. During her time in Santa Barbara, she and her husband developed a hilltop estate known for its views and became a devout arts patron. When she passed, she left her estate and trust to the Foundation. The income from Clara’s legacy helped many residents here in Santa Barbara County.
We honor her with our Max & Clara Legacy Society planned giving program.
