Girls Inc. of Carpinteria Announces New Development Director, Tess Ortega
CARPINTERIA, CA (August 2nd, 2023) – Girls Inc. of Carpinteria has announced the appointment of Tess Ortega as development director. Ortega will be responsible for formulating and executing a comprehensive strategic plan to expand the organization’s funding base, cultivate donors, direct special events, and increase philanthropic support.
Ortega brings over a decade of administrative management experience and 5 years in nonprofit and private sector development.

Ms. Ortega began her development work at the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, a legal nonprofit, working directly alongside the executive director. During her time there, she focused on serving the legal professionals in the community and facilitating programs to increase access to justice for Santa Barbara County residents. Ortega actively engaged with the community, providing legal resources, spearheading outreach initiatives, and directing fundraising campaigns.
Most recently, Ortega held the position of business development manager at Bowyer Environmental Consulting, an environmental remediation firm in Los Angeles County. In this capacity, she directed her efforts towards fostering internal and external growth for the small business.
“As someone who was born and raised in Santa Barbara, I have seen firsthand the lasting impact of Girls Inc. within the community,” said Ortega. “I am thrilled to contribute to such an important cause and play a part in expanding the programs available to girls.”
Ortega holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from California State University, Long Beach. She is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration at the University of California, Davis with emphasis on strategic management and organizational leadership.
