The Dorothy Jackson Family Resource Center (DJFRC) has relocated to the Family Service Agency (FSA) office at 101 South B Street in Lompoc. The move allows FSA to provide its family support services, mental health counseling, and senior programs at one central Lompoc location.
FSA’s DJFRC seeks to support and strengthen families and individuals who face barriers to family wellness, such as poverty, homelessness, family violence, substance abuse, and unemployment. The DJFRC provides a safe environment to support their basic needs, provide parent education, and build social connections so that families and communities thrive.
“We take a lot of pride in the fact that for 25 years, the Dorothy Jackson Family Resource Center has been a hub where residents can access a variety of services that contribute to the overall well-being,” said Cynthia MacDuff, FSA’s North County Family Support Services Director.
In 1993, FSA dedicated the Center to former Lompoc principal, Dorothy Jackson, who thought there should be a place that would focus on strengthening students, families, and community. For the past 30 years, this program has offered opportunities for children and their families to support their success in school, in the community, and in life.
The Family Resource Center’s bilingual/bicultural staff live in the local community. Every year, more than 1,500 families seek help from the DJFRC. For more information, visit fsacares.org.
