VISITOR SERVICES ASSOCIATE

Elverhøj Museum of History and Art is seeking an enthusiastic and friendly part time Visitor Services Associate.

JOB SUMMARY

The Visitor Services Associate is responsible for providing outstanding visitor service while sharing the history and heritage of Solvang. The Associate provides consistent and excellent customer service interactions with guests, members, volunteers, staff, and anyone else that they may interact with at the Museum.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Friendly personality with a guest-focused attitude and commitment to creating a welcoming and fun atmosphere for Museum visitors, volunteers and your co-workers.
• Serve as a Museum ambassador, sharing the history and heritage of Solvang.
• Conduct other general visitor services duties, including but not limited to: describing Museum exhibitions with interest and accuracy; answering incoming phone calls professionally; and keeping up-to-date on current exhibits, programs and procedures.
• Operate cash register and receive payment for Museum Store purchases, memberships and donations while maintaining careful attention to cash/credit card handling procedures.
• Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
• Be able to stand for long periods of time and communicate verbally for the majority of each shift.
• Available to work weekends, some holidays and occasional evenings (for events).

Desired Qualifications (the strongest applicants also have these):

• Reliable, possess a positive attitude, be skilled at conversation, be able to enjoy talking to strangers, and be able to think on your feet.
• Comfortable with shifting roles and responsibilities throughout the day while continually maintaining a pleasant and professional demeanor
• Possess basic math skills
• Experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail with experience in credit card/cash handling

This position requires regular standing and walking both indoors and outside. In addition, the Associate frequently lifts and/or moves boxes, chairs & tables up to 30 pounds. The Associate who demonstrates exceptional skills and a strong work ethic may be eligible for increased hours, responsibilities, and pay.

$18.00 to $19.50 per hour depending on skills and experience.
