Supervisor: Crisis Intervention Lead

A. Crisis Intervention Training
1. Prepare and facilitate three (Two in English & one in Spanish) Crisis Intervention Training sessions per year according to California Office of Emergency Services (CAL OES) certification requirements.
2. Prepare and update the English & Spanish training manual.
3. Screen applicants for suitability for the Crisis Intervention Training in Spanish or English.
4. Supervise and evaluate volunteers participating in the English & Spanish Crisis Intervention Training.
5. Maintain CALOES certification of the English & Spanish Crisis Intervention Training. Maintain all necessary trainee records and curricula to document compliance with CAL OES regulations.
6. Prepare volunteer statistical data from the English & Spanish Crisis Intervention Training for reports needed by funding sources.
7. With the Program Director, implement recruitment strategies to obtain Crisis Intervention Training Volunteers from diverse segments of the community.

B. Client Services
1. Provide appropriate crisis counseling, follow-up, advocacy, and accompaniment services to Crisis Intervention Program clients through an empowerment model.
2. Cover open shifts and serve as staff back up to the 24-hour hotline. Share these responsibilities with the Crisis Intervention Coordinating staff.
3. Work with Crisis Intervention Program clients that seek services STESA during office hours. Share this responsibility with the Crisis Intervention Coordinating staff.
4. Perform the duties of hotline coordination, volunteer management and client case management during on-call shifts.
5. Meet regularly with Crisis Intervention Coordinating Staff to conduct case management services and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of services provided.
6. Attend weekly Long-term Counseling supervision meetings in order to conduct case management and to process issues that arise from working with Crisis Intervention Program clients.
7. Provide long-term counseling to Spanish speaking clients as needed.
8. Maintain a positive working relationship with law enforcement, medical personnel and other community professionals to ensure successful delivery of services to clients.
9. In-Service Training
a. Develop an action plan for in-service training delivery with the Program Director.
b. Provide in-service trainings to social service agencies on issues related to sexual assault, as needed.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Attend training and research the subject of sexual assault as necessary to enhance skills and increase knowledge base.
2. Contribute to an atmosphere of teamwork and mutual respect among staff and volunteers.
3. Attend staff meetings and the board/staff retreat as indicated by the executive director.
4. Perform additional duties as required to advance the goals of STESA.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bilingual Spanish/English REQUIRED.
2. BA required, preferably in education, marketing, sociology or related field.
3. Excellent public speaking skills, including interface with media.
4. Excellent public relations skills. Considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment.
5. Strong written communication skills.
6. Completion of the crisis intervention training within 3 months of hire (STESA will provide this training).
7. Working knowledge of and sensitivity to issues related to sexual assault.
8. Knowledge of issues pertinent to marginalized communities. Experience in developing educational programs that address the needs of these communities.
9. Experience in working effectively with staff, volunteers and/or community agencies of diverse political, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
10. Demonstrated ability to motivate & coordinate the efforts of others in a positive manner.
11. Strong skills in volunteer management, recruitment, training and retention.
12. Well organized with excellent skills in time management and attention to detail.
13. Experience with recruitment, hiring and training of staff members.
14. Experience with supervision and evaluation of staff members
15. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
16. Working knowledge of statistics and statistical gathering methods.
17. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft suite. Strong Internet research skills.
18. Well versed in the use of social media.
19. Accessible by telephone and live within a 30 minute in-person response time of Santa Barbara.
20. Willingness and ability to work unusual and varied hours.
21. Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and reliable transportation. Ability to drive safely and in compliance with all applicable laws while on STESA business.

Physical Activities
This job requires the employee to:
• Sit for 50% of the working hours.
• Type at a computer keyboard while seated or standing at a desk.
• Lift and carry for brief periods up to 25 pounds from the floor to shoulder level.
• Bend, stoop and stand while filing in binders and files.
• Twist and reach while at a desk or computer terminal.
• Maintain physical and mental composure while dealing with emergencies, crisis situations and deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively with these persons both in person, over the telephone, and virtual.
