HIRING RANGE:
$70,000.00 to $78,000.00, with the anticipated starting salary not to exceed $75,000.00 unless the applicant has significant experience.
Note – The above-referenced compensation is based on California’s cost of living. Compensation for remote employees outside of California will vary due to local cost of living, education, and experience.
About UFW Foundation: For 17 years, the UFW Foundation has mobilized farm workers across the country to advocate for more equitable policies, such as immigration reform, pesticide protections, heat standards, hazard pay and other worker protections. We engage constituents in systemic change to break the cycle of poverty while also providing critical services. In fact, the UFW Foundation is the largest federally accredited immigration legal service provider in rural California. The organization has staff in California, Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, and Michigan.
SUMMARY: The UFW Foundation is seeking a full-time Senior Grant Writer. The Senior Grant Writer will (1) prospect and write grant proposals to support the organization’s annual operations and program development; and (2) seek to increase and diversify grant funding support for the organization in order to strengthen the expansion of services and programs. This position reports to the Grants Director. This is a US-based remote position that will be required to accommodate minimal travel for meetings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not exhaustive):
- Leads prospecting and writes compelling letters of interest for government, corporate and philanthropic foundations.
- Flexible and willing to balance the many challenges and tasks that arise in a fast-paced, changing, and growing organization.
- Gains and maintains familiarity with past and current funded proposals and with all organization funding opportunities.
- Works with other team members in research as needed.
- Relates well to the cultural and ethnic characteristics of the UFW Foundation community.
- Identifies directly aligned funder affinity priority areas as well as intersectional funding initiatives and enters all prospect information into our database with accuracy and in a timely manner.
- Works with program staff and executive team to collect the most accurate and up-to-date information on the organization’s programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years or more of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current California driver’s license and insurance.
- Experience with nonprofit grant writing is required.
- Experience with community-based grant prospecting and funder engagement.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks under deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Experience with non-profit management databases (QuickBase and Egnyte is a plus).
- Experience with working remotely is preferred.
COMPENSATION:
The annual salary range for this position is, $70,000.00 to $78,000.00, and benefits include:
