MARKETING MANAGER

The Santa Barbara Symphony is hiring a Marketing Manager to join its team of extraordinary and passionate professional staff, to lead efforts that engage and welcome our community and patrons into the exciting experiences of live symphonic concerts. The big picture responsibility is building relationships within Santa Barbara’s music-loving  community and diverse media landscapes to identify opportunities to grow our audiences. The detailed responsibility is to bring campaigns to life that fill our concert hall with music-loving patrons. We are looking for someone with a passion for connecting with the community and the public, who has tactical, operational excellence, as well as keen attention to detail. Bonus points if you love the impact live orchestral music has in a community!

POSITION SUMMARY

This position reports to the VP of Patron & Community Engagement and will:

Manage all marketing and promotional programs and components, including email, advertising and direct marketing campaigns, social media, and the website, with operational excellence.
Execute marketing and publicity strategies with the objective of growing our audiences and deepening our connections with the community.
Utilize market-focused analytics and develop surveys to effectively target audience segments and improve effectiveness of marketing campaigns with the highest return on investment of ad spend.
Oversee innovative programs and campaigns designed to attract new audiences and deepen patron connections, such as implementing a new mobile/digital program book, organize “meet-up” events for special interest groups, create institutional cross-marketing opportunities with community partners and local non-profits, and more!
Create content and advertising copy that engages readers and enhances our brand.
Manage marketing vendor relationships to achieve highest design and content quality and align with budget requirements.
Manage the marketing budget, closely track expenditures, and maintain cost controls, with the goal of doing more with less!

REQUIREMENTS TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

This is a role that is at the hub of diverse relationships, with our artistic team, our patron, fundraising, and database teams, our leadership and board of directors, our donors, the media, community members, and our concertgoers.
At least 3 years of experience in developing print, digital, social media, and radio advertising campaigns.
Solid understanding of the local media landscape and experience connecting with community and arts organizations or other non-profits is preferred.
Creative, clever, and has an engaging way with words.
Proficiency in marketing tools such as Microsoft Office and Google Suites, WordPress content management, social media platforms, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey, Canva, and CRMs. Video and audio editing knowledge is highly valued.

COMPENSATION

This position is full-time, exempt with an annual salary budgeted at $67,000..
Benefits include paid time off, health insurance and retirement plan offering.
