Marketing + Communications Coordinator (Full-time, Non-Exempt)

Position Summary

MOXI is searching for a talented Marketing + Communications Coordinator to join our team to promote the museum and its programs. This position is a Marketing + Communications support role with many opportunities to be creative and collaborate with all departments in a fun, fast-paced work environment.

The Marketing + Communications Coordinator must be organized, able to handle many diverse projects, meet deadlines, and maintain brand standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in graphic design and writing accurate, engaging content for newsletters, websites, social media posts, and more. This person will work very closely with MOXI’s Director of Marketing + Communications and is also expected to be a self-starter able to tackle a variety of projects and assist in key parts of the museum’s communications.

Reports to Director of Marketing and Communications

Compensation $22.00-$25.00/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Write compelling copy for e-newsletters, flyers, social media, blogs, and more.
  • Design support for marketing materials, graphics, flyers, digital signage, social media, and brochures.
  • Monitor and update marketing materials inside the museum as needed, including onsite signage, event signage, and rack cards.
  • Walk the museum weekly to check for out-of-date signs, etc.
  • Source or create graphic and video content for social media.
  • Customer service and community engagement via social media and review sites.
  • Assist in keeping MOXI’s website content current
  • Oversee all MOXI’s Canva templates and ensure brand standards are met.
  • Organize MOXI’s photo library and press page and respond to media requests.
  • Maintain a directory and inventory of marketing materials.
  • Monitor and respond to internal requests for Marketing support.
  • Provide general marketing team support for programs and campaigns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements, Skills + Qualifications

  • Strong copywriting and editing skills.
  • Sharp attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including understanding English grammar and AP Style.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products, Adobe CS products, Canva, website management, social media marketing tools.
  • Adept at critical thinking and complex problem-solving.
  • Must be receptive to the ideas of others and work cooperatively across the organization.
  • Ability to be proactive rather than solely reactive to internal requests.
  • Conscientious and detail-oriented; must appreciate the necessity of following through with paperwork, record-keeping, and documentation.
  • Strong time management skills and a propensity to meet deadlines.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to use data and intuition to guide decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Some administrative experience maintaining an organized file and record structure.
  • Able to learn new systems and adapt to emerging technologies.
  • Passion for promoting a world-class museum that is recognized as a truly outstanding educational experience.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities.
  • Awareness of issues relating to access and inclusion and the ability to build an inclusive and accessible visitor experience.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus.

Education and Experience requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, or a similar field.
  • Must have one to three years of proven experience as a Marketing or Communications Coordinator, Content Creator, or similar role in an office setting.

Additional Information

  • Work on-site five days/week (M-F); work occasional weekends; stand or walk for extended periods of time; be highly organized and prompt; work with multiple technologies; troubleshoot and problem solve; communicate effectively and courteously with a variety of people verbally and in writing.
  • Schedule and availability reflect that the organization is a 7-day a week operation, with frequent early morning, evening, and weekend programs.
  • Applicant must be able to bend, squat, lift push/pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Regular predictable attendance is required.
