Position’s Purpose:
The collection and presentation of meaningful data is critical to raising funding, improving programs, and communicating WEV’s impact with key stakeholders. WEV is well-known and respected for its leadership in program evaluation within the microenterprise development field. The Impact and Evaluation Officer determines WEV’s data evaluation strategy and design, and implements the methods by which data is collected, analyzed, and presented for the purpose of understanding and communicating our organizational impact on individuals and in the community. This position will collect and analyze program evaluation and client outcomes data, manage the client database and support grant reporting activities.
This role is a full-time, exempt position and can be remote, or based in the Ventura/ Santa Barbara office, with hybrid work opportunities.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Evaluation
- Designs and executes WEV’s annual evaluation plan.
- Works with internal teams to develop meaningful impact measurement tools (logic models, assessments, surveys, focus groups) and monitors progress towards annual goals.
- Manages WEV’s client outcomes research project, including supervision of temporary staff.
- Analyzes, compiles, and communicates results from data collection projects.
- Prepares monthly/quarterly organizational dashboards for the Board and Finance Committee.
- Identifies and communicates client successes and trends through data.
- Lends impact measurement expertise and input to other organizations as requested.
- Responds to internal and external requests for industry and organizational/program data.
Data Management
- Maintains WEV’s Apricot 360 client database.
- Creates and maintains database SOPs and training resources to ensure the consistency and accuracy of client data.
- May provide data entry support periodically.
- Creates and edits database forms and reports for internal and external stakeholders (funders) as needed.
- Manages database enhancement projects as needed.
Grant Reporting and Compliance
- Manages the reporting and invoicing process for all private grants and government contracts, including quarterly EDMIS reports for Women’s Business Center grants.
- Maintains annual grant goals list for program managers.
- Participates in, and provides feedback for, strategic annual grant planning.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 3-5 years’ experience in non-profit program evaluation, including data collection and analysis, logic models, focus groups, and creating surveys and pre/post assessments.
- Knowledge of Asana, Teams, Zoom, Apricot 360, Ontraport, Canva or other business and CRM platforms
- Experience configuring, managing, and working in MIS platforms (Apricot 360 is preferred).
- Familiarity with online survey (Cognito Forms preferred) and data analysis and visualization software platforms.
- Effective communication skills including concise and compelling writing, strong copy-editing and proof-reading, and comfort speaking one-on-one with clients and groups.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once and drive results through cooperation and collaboration, under minimal supervision, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivated to keep updated on developments in evaluation strategies and systems.
- Some supervisory experience preferred (e.g. for managing research interns).
- Highly motivated and dedicated to WEV’s mission, clients, and the achievement of strategic goals.
- Entrepreneurial outlook.
- Willingness to travel to WEV head office at least once a year if not in Santa Barbara/Ventura counties.
Education:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree, plus at least three years working in program evaluation or a related field.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in related field.
Physical Demands:
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds without assistance
- Sit at a computer, typing for 60-80% of the time
Compensation: $65,000 to $75,000 DOE
