Human Resource Manager

The Mental Wellness Center is a local non-profit organization that has been operating in Santa Barbara for over 75 years. We provide housing, education and support programs for individuals, families and the community. This is an on-site position in Santa Barbara, California supporting our dedicated employees and volunteers. What We’re Looking For:

  • A candidate who has at least 5 years’ experience working in Human Resources and a minimum of 3 years’ leadership experience working as an HR Manager.
  • A leader committed to working on-site to deliver their excellent interpersonal, negotiation, employee relations, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Someone with demonstrated experience interpreting and enforcing policies, labor regulations and success resolving complex personnel matters.
  • A compassionate leader with a personal passion for change management and innovation in the field of human resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with Mental Wellness Center CEO, Directors, and Managers to develop the organization’s goals and strategies related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement policies and activities to support the organization’s initiative to be a healthy workplace and a role model for other community employers.       We are inspired by the ideals and values stated in the guide published by Mental Health America. https://mhanational.org/sites/default/files/workplace/toolkit/FULL-WPMH-2022-TOOLKIT-FINAL_0.pdf
  • Cultivate a culture of leadership, kindness, respect, empathy, and compassion.
  • Work with the HR Representative to coordinate department workflow.
  • Develop and execute best practices for hiring, onboarding, and talent management.
  • Conduct research and analysis of local, regional and organizational trends.
  • Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and modern technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources.
  • Facilitate professional development and training activities for HR staff and company leaders.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Compensation and Benefits Package: This is a full-time exempt position with a starting salary of between $74,000-$95,000 per year depending on skills, talent, and experience. Mental Wellness Center offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, vision, dental insurance; paid vacation, holidays, and sick time; a 401(k) tax-sheltered retirement savings plan with employer match.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience is required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
