The Home Repair Site Supervisor for Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County (HFHVC) is responsible for executing the on-site construction of the home repair program and ensuring home repairs are completed successfully within a given time frame. The Site Supervisor leads all construction activities to effectively, efficiently, and safely, repair homes in partnership with volunteers, partner families and subcontractors. This is a unique leadership position which will direct all on-site activities for the Home Repair program. The Site Supervisor provides construction expertise, coordinates materials and sub-contractors, and teaches and directs volunteers in the building process. A key aspect of the role is to provide volunteer groups with meaningful work experiences.
Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Home Repair Program Manager
Salary: $18-$20 an hour, dependent upon experience.
Schedule: This is a part-time position (maximum of 29 hours per week). Work hours will vary but are generally Monday to Friday each week with a start time of 7:00am. Saturday work may occasionally be required. Exact schedule to be created with the Home Repair Program Manager.
Location: Various job sites throughout Ventura County.
Primary responsibilities:
- Supervise home repair site activities.
- Ensure homes are repaired with an emphasis on quality.
- Meet with homeowners to verify scope of work and to complete paperwork.
- Lead HFHVC’s on-site safety program, making sure all safety procedures are followed.
- Ensure all materials and tools are on site and in good working order.
- Inspect work completed by subcontractors.
- Coordinate the work of groups of inexperienced volunteers and help them individually find useful, productive, and rewarding contributions on the jobsite.
- Coordinate with and take direction from the Home Repair Program Manager on scheduling and home documentation and follow-up with program recipients.
- Work with the Home Repair Program Manager to ensure cost effective, sustainable and efficient repairs are executed.
- Represent HFHVC in a professional and caring manner.
- Complete repair projects at ReStore locations and HFHVC administrative office as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of residential construction experience; 5 years preferred.
- Valid CA Driver License with a clean driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.
- Independent worker with ability to take initiative.
- Proven ability to proactively plan, schedule and execute construction projects.
- Strong organizational and communication/interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude, punctual and reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Passion for working with individuals of diverse populations and families in need.
- Personal skills to lead volunteers and corporate sponsors who seek a team building exercise with the opportunity to learn construction and support the community.
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 60 pounds
- Must be comfortable climbing up tall ladders, working at elevated levels
- Preferred – Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Strong belief in the mission of Habitat for Humanity International and HFHVC.
