The Position
The Grant Writer takes a lead role in preparing private and public grant applications for Family Service Agency. Responsibilities include conducting research on current/new grant opportunities; maintaining agency grants calendar; working with program and development staff in preparing grant proposals; and assisting with grant reporting. This position reports to the Director of Grants & Partnerships, and also works collaboratively with the Director to ensure successful delivery of the agency’s grant priorities.

Sample of Duties and Responsibilities
1. Prepare letters of intent and full grant proposals, including supporting documentation.
2. Work collaboratively with program and development staff on grant proposals and reporting.
3. Submit grant applications on time and in the required format.
4. Assist with grant reporting and maintaining grant files.
5. Help maintain agency grants calendar of application and report due dates.
6. Attend application workshops.
7. Research funding opportunities from private and public sources with potential to fund FSA.
8. Participate in strategic grant planning.
Employment Standards:
1. BA/BS degree required.
2. Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
3. Three years minimum experience in writing private and/or public grants.
4. Proficient computer skills.
5. Ability to manage several projects concurrently and meet multiple deadlines.
6. Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
7. Valid automobile insurance, valid California Driver License and reliable transportation throughout Santa Barbara County, as necessary.
Classification, Hours, and Pay Rate:
• The position is part-time, up to 30 hours per week with benefits including: medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts and 403(b) retirement plan. Pro-rated vacation, holiday, and sick leave also offered.
• Pay range is $35.00-$39.00/hour.
