Position’s Purpose:
The Grant Professional (P-T) supports the Director of Grants & Budget with the performance of grant writing and reporting activities. WEV is heavily reliant on grant funding and the grants team occupies a critical role; from researching potential new funders to writing compelling narratives to submitting accurate and timely grant reports, this role requires an individual with proven experience and success in the field. Nearly 80% of WEV’s income is grant-funded through 40 different organizations. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in grant writing and reporting for economic, financial and/or gender equity organizations, with a track record of identifying new funding opportunities.
This role is a part-time (approx. 25 hours/week), non-exempt position and can be remote, or based in the Ventura/ Santa Barbara office, with hybrid work opportunities.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Grants and Compliance
- Maintain annual grant calendar / database
- Track and communicate proposal deadlines, grant payments, and grant deliverables.
- Assist with the development of grant proposals and reports, including narratives and supporting documentation.
- Participate in, and provide feedback for, annual grant strategic planning.
- Assists in maintaining and updating grant-related SOPs.
Research
- Research prospective funding opportunities to develop and expand a strong grant pipeline.
- Research and maintain regional demographic data and trends.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of grant writing experience – experience with the CDFI industry highly preferred.
- Experience maintaining immaculate and consistent records using cloud-based tools e.g., OneDrive, FLUXX or other grant tracking database.
- Knowledge of Asana, Teams, and Zoom.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines, under minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills including concise and compelling writing, strong copy-editing and proof-reading, and comfort speaking one-on-one with funders.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively with strong attention to detail.
- Highly motivated and dedicated to WEV’s mission, clients, and the achievement of strategic goals.
- Entrepreneurial outlook.
- Willingness to travel to WEV head office at least once a year if not in Santa Barbara/Ventura counties.
Education:
Four-year degree in Liberal Arts, Humanities, Communication, English, Sociology or other related field. Significant, proven experience may substitute for education.
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds without assistance
- Sit at a computer, typing for 60-80% of the time
Compensation: $30 to $40/hourly DOE
