Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Development to lead our fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive development strategy to support the growth and sustainability of Freedom to Choose Project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including annual giving, broad appeals, major gifts, grants, planned giving, donor membership, and all other fundraising strategies.
  • Donor Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing donors and stakeholders, while also identifying and engaging new potential donors.
  • Grant Writing and Management: Oversee the grant application process, including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
  • Planned Giving: Oversee the administrative of Planned Giving.
  • Fundraising Events: Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns to meet annual revenue goals.
  • Marketing and Communication: Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling fundraising materials and communicate the impact of donations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the development team, fostering an environment of growth and collaboration.
  • Financial Oversight: Develop and manage the development budget, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Fundraising Software: Oversee and manage fundraising software and donor databases.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or comparable work experience) in business or nonprofit management, social impact, public administration, or related.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in donor cultivation and major gift solicitation.

  • Clearly aligned with the Freedom to Choose Project’s mission.
  • Excellent ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people and personalities while exhibiting grace and flexibility under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • The Freedom to Choose Project is a drug-free workplace, including medical marijuana.
  • Criminal background check and prison security clearance required.
  • A growth mindset with a strong commitment to personal transformation
  • Strong computer skills are required, including competency in Office and online research
  • Self-starter with demonstrated efficiency and ability to handle details. Initiative coupled with willingness to take direction from the Executive Director.
