Content Manager (Full-time, Non-Exempt)

Position Summary

MOXI is searching for a dynamic Content Manager to join our marketing team and share our story with the community. This position is a Marketing + Communications support role with ownership and vision for MOXI’s social channels.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background as a communications professional, responsible for writing several types of content from vibrant social media posts to news releases, website content, video scripts, newsletter articles, and more. This individual should inspire creativity across MOXI’s external communications and embrace the role of storyteller to provide awareness of museum events, programs, exhibits, corporate sponsors, the museum’s impact on the greater community, and fundraising campaigns.

Reports to Director of Marketing and Communications

Compensation $24-$31.25/hr.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare well-written, branded content for MOXI’s public-facing communications from start to finish, sourcing or creating graphic and video content for social media, newsletters, and moxi.org.
  • Create email campaigns and keep up with list maintenance.
  • Place ads and report on social media advertising.
  • Collaborate on and/or proofread marketing copy for advertising efforts.
  • Prepare news releases and manage MOXI’s press page, monitor and archive media coverage, and respond to media requests.
  • Update MOXI’s website content.
  • Edit and proofread content before publication to adhere to marketing guidelines and convey MOXI’s voice and tone to ensure consistent brand messaging.
  • Daily management of social media accounts to track engagement.
  • Develop communications content calendars and monthly reports.
  • Monitor and respond to review sites, including Trip Advisor/Yelp/Google etc.
  • Maintain and create marketing collateral as needed, including print and digital screens, social media graphics, and editable CANVA templates.
  • Manage one-off sign requests or reprints frequently requested by MOXI staff.
  • Provide general marketing team support for programs and campaigns as they arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements, Skills + Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal skills with a compulsion to proofread, edit, and fact check before posting or printing.
  • Skilled in all major social media platforms for business (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter).
  • Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, including content marketing, and social media marketing.
  • Understands SEO best practices and keyword search.
  • Ability to align basic production design principles with brand guidelines.
  • Experience with Adobe CS software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Ability to create and edit basic video content.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and social platform software (Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
  • Experience with web content management software (WordPress).
  • Familiarity with Constant Contact, MailChimp, Canva, etc.
  • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Conscientious and detail-oriented; must have an appreciation of the necessity of following through with paperwork, record-keeping, and documentation.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize varied tasks in a manner that most effectively serves the needs of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; must be receptive to the ideas of others and able to work cooperatively to prioritize tasks and accommodate many different and conflicting concerns.
  • Passion for creating a world-class museum that is recognized as a truly outstanding educational experience.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new systems and adapt to emerging technologies.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities.
  • Awareness of issues relating to access and inclusion, and the ability to build an inclusive and accessible visitor experience.
  • Spanish fluency a plus.

Education and Experience requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communications, or a similar field.
  • Three to five years of proven experience as a Marketing or Communications Associate, Content Creator, or similar role.

Additional Information

  • Work five days/week (M-F); work occasional weekends; stand or walk for extended periods of time; be highly organized and prompt; work with multiple technologies; troubleshoot and problem solve; communicate effectively and courteously with a variety of people verbally and in writing.
  • Schedule and availability reflect that the organization is a 7-day a week operation, with frequent early morning, evening, and weekend programs.
  • Applicant must be able to bend, squat, lift push/pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Regular predictable attendance is required.
