Responsible for co-managing incoming requests for counseling services; conducting initial client contact; assisting with scheduling, planning and facilitating the zoom platform for clinical trainings, in-services, and events; aid in collection, compilation and analysis of data and shared responsibility for tracking outcomes and program performance measures; acting as second site administrator for our Electronic Health Records System including editing forms, creating and closing clients and staff in the system, tracking clients as they move through the intake process, interfacing with web developers, and troubleshooting issues as they arise; compiling and maintaining the community resource list; maintaining the tele mental health psychotherapy program; interfacing with other New Beginnings programs, external service providers, and local social service, health, governmental, community and professional organizations. Responsibilities include: provide telephone triage screenings, provide crisis intervention, consultation with counselors, staff and clinical supervisors. All responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with established professional and ethical guidelines and established policies and procedures of the Center. The position requires an exceptionally strong clinical emphasis in interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently within a fast-paced, high volume clinical environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Manage reception area, greeting all program clients and triaging their needs to the appropriate staff member or community resource. Maintain basic knowledge of all New Beginnings programs.
  2. Co-manage all incoming requests for psychotherapy services by phone, website, and outside referrals, among other means.
  3. Educate clients on Center services and refer clients to other professionals or resources as appropriate to ensure optimal service.
  4. Provide telephone, video, and in-person triage, crisis evaluation, and crisis management for clients seeking mental health services to assist in the prioritization, scheduling, and assignment of new clients.
  5. Provide support to counselors regarding clinic logistics, policies, and administrative tasks.
  6. Act as secondary site administrator and point of contact for the Electronic Health Records system alongside Intake Coordinator.
  7. Conduct counselor file audits and ensure proper documentation and timely payments are present and complete.
  8. Assist with clinic-related grants as needed.
  9. Collect, track, and analyze data as it relates to client services, grant administration, program evaluation, curriculum development, and agency accreditation.
  10. Maintain clinical records in accordance with Counseling Center policies and state/federal regulations.
  11. Participate in scheduled meetings, including Center staff meetings and clinical

  13. Maintain and utilize knowledge of community resources and create a guide for others to reference as well.
  14. Perform, as assigned, other administrative responsibilities associated with counseling services including, but not limited to participation on and implementation of research activities and special projects.
  15. Track and bill sessions for Medi-Cal (CenCal) clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex clinical situations (e.g. crisis situations, severe psychopathology, suicide and homicide assessment).
  • Knowledge of developmental issues at all ages.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing culturally competent services to a diverse client population.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability and willingness to contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently within a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Understanding of the ethical and legal issues involved in the provision of clinical
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in using information technology and computerized databases.

Work hours are Monday – Friday, 9-6 although there may be some occasional night-time and weekend hours to organize and/or attend community events, and/or to manage any emergent issues. Starting salary is $25-27 per hour DOE with medical, dental and vision benefits provided, 403b contribution and matching, as well as other benefits and very generous paid time off. Position begins asap.
