Job Title: Chief Advancement Officer

Location: Pacific Pride Foundation, Santa Barbara, CA

Reports to: Executive Director

Salary Range: $125,000 – $135,000 annually, with a $5,000 pay differential for bilingual Spanish-English candidates

Type of employment: Exempt, full-time, in-person with occasional remote and regular travel

Position Summary: The Chief Advancement is a pivotal member of the Pacific Pride Foundation’s leadership team, tasked with supporting the Executive Director in driving organizational success. This role will focus on fundraising, program development, and strategic partnerships to advance PPF’s mission of meeting the ongoing and emerging needs of a diverse population in order to create a thriving and visible LGBTQ+ community and to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in non-profit management, strategic fundraising, donor relations and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Advancement Oversight

  • Oversee and implement all fundraising initiatives to achieve short-term and long-term financial goals.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for individual giving, major gifts, annual giving, and planned giving opportunities.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with high-value donors, managing a portfolio of top prospects.
  • Lead annual fundraising efforts, including campaigns, appeals, donor communications, benefit fulfillment, and impact reporting.
  • Coordinate grant writing and compliance, managing relationships with funders to secure ongoing support.
  • Mentor and lead the development team, including the Donor Relations Manager, to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Serve as a staff liaison for the Board Advancement Committee to facilitate communication and strategic program planning.

Community Building and Advocacy

  • Act as a spokesperson for PPF, representing the organization in community meetings, coalitions, and advocacy efforts.
  • Nurture partnerships with community stakeholders, including funders, elected officials, and partner organizations.
  • Lead community engagement initiatives that amplify PPF’s impact and mission, such as the Rainbow Roundtable.

Staff Management

  • Oversee the training, and development of program staff, volunteers, and interns, fostering an inclusive and supportive work culture.
  • Implement performance evaluations and development plans to maximize team effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with team members to create a cohesive, motivated, and mission-driven work environment.

Financial Management and Compliance

  • Work with the finance team to create and manage an annual budget that aligns with PPF’s goals and priorities.
  • Support data-driven grant writing and reporting, serving as the primary contact for grant-related inquiries.

Events Management

  • Lead PPF’s signature events, including the Pacific Pride Festival, PROUD Prom, Rocky Horror Movie Night, and Pride Movie Night.
  • Oversee event planning, budgeting, and execution in collaboration with the Event Producer and relevant staff.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to drive continuous improvement in event planning and execution.

Communications

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement an annual communications strategy.
  • Supervise communication contractors and vendors to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a leadership role within the non-profit sector.
  • Extensive experience in fundraising, donor relations, and grant writing.
  • Proven track record in program development, staff management, and financial oversight.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commitment to LGBTQ+ rights and community empowerment.

  • Complete and pass a background check, including ability to work with youth.

  • Work evenings weekly and weekends as needed
  • Be able to show proof of current Covid-19 vaccinations or valid legal reason for exemption.
