Bookkeeper/Accountant

We are a very small, brand-new nonprofit organization that needs about 6-8 hours of bookkeeping a month. A proficient bookkeeper could accomplish this on their own schedule. This can be a fully remote job as we only exist online, but we do have access to office space if needed. But, once a month, following the close of the month, the bookkeeper would meet with the Executive Director and Board President to go over the financial statements, this could be done in person or via Zoom. In addition, the bookkeeper would present the financial statements to the Board at the Board Meetings as needed. All board meetings take place via Zoom.

“`Duties:“`
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the non-profit organization
– Reconcile bank statements and perform account analysis monthly

– Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for the Board of Directors.
– Track grant spending on multiple grants in Excel for the final report to the granting foundation
– Utilize Aplos Nonprofit Accounting Software to record and track financial transactions. If you do not know this software please still apply, as we can train you.
– Perform general bookkeeping tasks, including recording debits and credits

– Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, please have references available
– General understanding of how a nonprofit organization works
-Solid understanding of financial concepts and GAAP principles
– Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel)
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy
– Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
– Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
