WEV is seeking to hire a full-time Bilingual Program Officer to support our Emprendedores Spanish language business training, coaching and micro-grant program.  This role can be based in the Ventura or Santa Barbara office, with hybrid work opportunities. The Program Officer will manage the day-to-day implementation of this multi-cohort, multi-year program, requiring a strong background in program management and experience supporting marginalized communities (e.g. low English proficiency and/or undocumented). Primary Responsibilities:

Program Administration

  • Drive the successful implementation of the Emprendedores programs through regular communication and collaboration with internal team members, instructors, advisors, volunteers and clients to meet the goal of delivering a high-quality, empowering experience to our clients.
  • Supervise program team members to ensure quality program implementation including high quality communication and accurate data entry.
  • Provide input to the Emprendedores training curriculum to enhance the quality of the business training outcomes.
  • Gain familiarity with the WEV Learning Management System (LMS) and its functions to streamline program coordination.
  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to align with program development and ensure quality, accuracy and process improvements.

Participant Support

  • Provide high quality customer service to ensure positive participant, volunteer, advisor, and instructor experiences through ongoing interaction and engagement.
  • Proactively utilize constructive feedback from participants to improve their experience, address any concerns, and quickly and effectively make changes to improve outcomes.
  • Act as one of the primary points of contact for Emprendedores participants demonstrating professionalism, allyship and confidence.

Outreach & Community Building

  • Participate in community engagement efforts via new and existing networking and outreach to elevate organizational and programmatic awareness.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain positive relationships with local business community experts to serve as volunteer speakers and consultants to ensure all contributors to the WEV brand are aligned with WEV’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Serve as a WEV ambassador in the community through active participation in community affairs to increase community awareness, cultivate community relationships, and strengthen WEV’s referral network.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skills, including active listening, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work in a highly organized manner both individually and collaboratively.
  • Ability to develop and adapt procedures to improve efficiency and drive results.
  • Proven high level of resilience and steadiness, ability to remain calm and provide reassurance in high pressure and sometimes emotional situations.
  • Effectively communicate and present to diverse audiences in English and Spanish (oral and written).
  • Dedication to WEV’s mission and the advancement of WEV’s strategic plan.
  • Availability to adjust schedule to work occasional evenings and weekends (substituting hours for regular workday hours).
  • Personal, reliable auto transportation and current auto insurance.
  • Ability to travel for regional outreach and meetings as necessary.
  • Interest and exposure to small business, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Zoom, Asana.
  • Language: Bilingual with oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish

Education:

Minimum: Associates Degree, or High school diploma/GED plus 4 years work experience.

Preferred: B.A. or B.S. from four-year college.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. without assistance
  • Sit/stand at a computer, typing for 60-80% of the time.

Compensation:

WEV offers a competitive non-profit salary rate ($60k-$65k DOE), which is augmented by a generous benefits package, including 3 weeks of annual paid vacation, an additional 12.5 days paid annual company holidays; 12 days of paid annual sick leave; employer contribution towards health, dental, vision insurance. Life insurance and disability benefits; SIMPLE IRA plan with matching employer contribution.
