Summary of Job Details
Reporting in to the Senior Director of Development for Donor Relations and Stewardship (DRS), the Assistant Director of Donor Reporting, Stewardship and Engagement Programs [hereafter referred to as the “Assistant Director”] oversees the development of centralized stewardship planning & reporting, including the creation of highly customized reports, as well as manages the interpretation and application of complex data for the entire unit. The Assistant Director provides expert analytical, strategic planning, project management and proactive department support for DRS. S/he maintains a substantial knowledge of University and divisional policies and procedures related to the acquisition and use of data, and the use and application of Advance in a major capital fund raising environment. The Assistant Director will exercise strong and effective leadership to influence and support stewardship planning in partnership with Senior Development staff and college and unit development officers. DRS is a complex and multifaceted unit covering the intersection between Donors, Development Officers, and Gifts Administration. S/he will work closely with the Senior Director, implementing strategic approaches to donor reporting and stewardship. This involves the development and enhancement of stewardship programs, including year-long reporting plans and tracking of metrics, integrated timelines, design layouts and content management. This position will also involve overseeing reporting cycles such as endowed fund reports, fellowship and scholarship stewardship, impact reports, , as well as providing recommendations for reporting integration in order to provide best-in-class stewardship. In his/her role, the Assistant Director will be required to meet with campus colleagues regularly, collaborating with them on a host of donor stewardship and engagement projects and providing a strong Donor Relations point of view. S/he will correspond with the Development Communications team, UCSB faculty and staff, business officers, and others to ensure comprehensive and tailored donor stewardship. This position must be staffed by an individual who demonstrates strong analytical, project management and influence skills. S/he will develop a robust central donor reporting and stewardship program, in partnership with the Senior Director. S/he will be asked to derive key donor stewardship and engagement metrics, compile sophisticated reports and make strategic decisions and recommendations based on data. S/he must demonstrate excellent communication skills through high-profile verbal and written mediums, and must pay close attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in stewardship reporting and our donor database. The Assistant Director must be able to think critically, make informed decisions and demonstrate sound judgement. S/he must be able to prioritize work with their team and demonstrate success in a fast-paced and evolving environment. S/he may be called upon to work occasional evenings and weekends at various Development Office, Institutional Advancement or campus-wide events.

Pay Rate/Range: $62,300 – $70,000
