The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking a Human Resources Assistant/Payroll Administrator in Santa Barbara.

The position is based in downtown Santa Barbara, with occasional travel to other agency locations throughout Santa Barbara County. This is a unique role with the county’s leading provider of life-changing treatment and services for children, teens, adults, and families struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health conditions.   • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Human Resources experience in a non-profit organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with HRIS and Payroll systems, preferably APS.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work as a team player on diverse tasks and meet assignment deadlines.
  • Good communications skills: both oral and written.


  • Evaluate and process recruitment requests for personnel, interns, and volunteers. Screen resumes, maintain recruitment binder, scheduling interviews, processing employment references.
  • Coordinates and conducts new staff orientations. Prepares new staff orientation packets.
  • Create and maintain staff personnel files.
  • Assist with tracking and implementing Employee Performance Evaluations.
  • Responsible for processing Payroll on a semi-monthly basis. Reviews timecards, enters new employee information and changes into HR/Payroll system, and updates the timekeeping system.
  • Generates bi-monthly payroll reports, and other payroll reports as needed. Knowledgeable in HR/Payroll system report writing.
  • Maintain Employee Database.
  • Attends Human Resources seminars and trainings. Must keep abreast of Labor Law changes


This is a full-time (30-40hrs/week) position, with benefits, including health, dental, retirement, and vacation/sick/holiday pay.

Salary range: $25.00-$28.00 dependent on qualifications and experience
