The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum (SBMM) Store and watercolorist Lisa Dov will present a Pop Up Show & Sale of Lisa’s work on Sundays, December 5 and December 19, 2021, from 10 am-5 pm on the museum’s patio overlooking the Harbor. Lisa’s work celebrates the museum’s current mermaids exhibit, which runs through March 31, 2022.
Growing up in Sherman Oaks and Beverly Hills, Lisa always wanted to create things and loved to draw and paint. She earned an associate degree in fashion design and studied watercolor at Brentwood Art Center. As Lisa says, “For me drawing and painting are a form of meditation. I love painting portraits as well as botanicals, seascapes, and animals.” She also enjoys Art Nouveau and ancient Japanese prints, hints of which appear in her work. Lisa’s images are dreamlike and clearly demonstrate her fascination with mermaids and other maritime images.
