SCAPE’s Art Show and Sale to Benefit Explore Ecology

Santa Barbara: Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Central Coast at SCAPE’s (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment) annual juried Fall Show Central Coast Reflections on September 13th and 14th, 2024. Held at the prestigious Music Academy of the West in Lehmann Hall, this two-day event not only celebrates stunning local art, it also supports a vital cause—benefiting the environmental education nonprofit, Explore Ecology.

Central Coast Reflections opens on Friday, September 13th, at 2:30 pm, with a catered reception from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Attendees can look forward to a special Painting Demonstration by renowned artist Kevin Gleason on Saturday, September 14th, at noon. The exhibition will also be open on Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

With free parking available at the Music Academy of the West, located at 1070 Fairway Rd in Santa Barbara, this event offers a unique opportunity to view and purchase artwork inspired by the natural splendor of the Central Coast.

Kathy McGill, SCAPE Board President, says, “What excites me about a SCAPE show is seeing the work of so many talented artists gathered in one place. What our members have in common is a passion for art and for the natural world around us, and for sharing that passion through their work. From abstract paintings to more realistic work, I am always blown away by the skill, creativity, and diversity of our members. And of course, it is always a thrill and an honor when a collector loves a painting enough to buy it and make it a part of their lives! This year SCAPE is proud to partner with Explore Ecology, an organization that has a long history of successful community outreach and environmental education programs.”

The juror for this year’s exhibit is Tom Henderson, a well-known artist in the Santa Barbara art community and a member of the Oak Group. Some of Tom’s work will also be on display during the show.

“We’re excited to partner with SCAPE for this wonderful event showcasing local artists who are committed to the environment,” says Lindsay Johnson, Executive Director at Explore Ecology. “Working with SCAPE is a perfect fit for our aligned missions. Every piece of art sold at the show will not only bring beauty to your life, it will also positively impact children in schools throughout the County who benefit from our programming, including Environmental and Watershed Education, School Gardens, Art From Scrap, and the EE Makerspace.”
