Andrea Mobley will Manage New Mentor Program

SANTA BARBARA, CA (April 4, 2022) – The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is pleased to announce the recruitment of two seasoned individuals to oversee key youth and family programs in North County.

Peggy Sue Black has joined CADA as Program Manager, School Services – North County. She oversees 25 Mental Health Therapists delivering School-Based Therapy to students (TK-8th grade) in the Santa Maria-Bonita School District. Therapists address many student issues, including behavior, trauma, emotional problems, bullying, alienation, and disengagement from classroom learning. They help students learn skills that boost resiliency and improve their social and academic function.

Students are referred to CADA’s School-Based Therapy Program through their school. For more information, contact the student’s school directly; or call/email CADA at 805.925.8860, sbc@cadasb.org

Andrea Mobley has joined CADA in the newly created role of Mentor Program Manager, North County following the agency’s recent expansion of the program into the community. Now in its 18th year, the Mentor Program matches youth (3rd-8th grade) with caring adult mentors who commit to spending weekly time with their young mentee talking about the student’s issues and concerns, working on school assignments, setting goals, and enjoying each other’s company in a positive environment.

To become a CADA Mentor in North County, contact Andrea at amobley@cadasb.org; 805.357.5777. Parents can speak with the administrative team at their child’s school to request a referral to the Mentor Program. There is no cost to participate.

“CADA is deeply committed to serving the needs of youth and their families in North County,” said Executive Director Scott Whiteley, PhD. “Both Peggy Sue and Andrea bring extensive experience to these important roles. They are actively collaborating with school district administrators, community leaders, businesses and other local nonprofits to ensure that any child in need of therapy or who would benefit by having a mentor can easily access these life changing services.”
