Andrea Mobley will Manage New Mentor Program
SANTA BARBARA, CA (April 4, 2022) – The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is pleased to announce the recruitment of two seasoned individuals to oversee key youth and family programs in North County.
Peggy Sue Black has joined CADA as Program Manager, School Services – North County. She oversees 25 Mental Health Therapists delivering School-Based Therapy to students (TK-8th grade) in the Santa Maria-Bonita School District. Therapists address many student issues, including behavior, trauma, emotional problems, bullying, alienation, and disengagement from classroom learning. They help students learn skills that boost resiliency and improve their social and academic function.

Andrea Mobley has joined CADA in the newly created role of Mentor Program Manager, North County following the agency’s recent expansion of the program into the community. Now in its 18th year, the Mentor Program matches youth (3rd-8th grade) with caring adult mentors who commit to spending weekly time with their young mentee talking about the student’s issues and concerns, working on school assignments, setting goals, and enjoying each other’s company in a positive environment.

About Our New Managers
Peggy Sue was most recently with CommUnify in Santa Maria, where she served as Clinical Services Director for Family and Children Services Head Start (ages 0-5), and Family and Transition Youth (ages 16-26). Prior to that, she has extensive experience in providing therapy across a broad range of organizations in Las Vegas, Nevada. These have included roles as therapist, mental health therapist, clinical mental therapist, clinical director/therapist, psychotherapist, clinical substance abuse counselor, clinician, and clinical manager. She was one of only 10 certified addiction specialists in Nevada. Peggy Sue holds an MS in Counselor Education in Substance Abuse / Behavioral Health from the University of Las Vegas.
Andrea was mostly recently Assistant Director of the Arroyo Grande United Methodist Children’s Center, focused on the social and emotional development of children 3-5 years. Prior to that, she spent 10 years with Charter Communications, a national telecommunications and mass media company with services branded as Spectrum, in the roles of Store Manager, and Inbound Sales & Care Manager. Andrea earned a Master of Education from Walden University, and a BA in liberal studies with a concentration in social services from California State University Bakersfield. She additionally holds certificates and licenses in early childhood development.
