We gather baby items from families who no longer need them and distribute them to those who do, alleviating financial stress and allowing parents to focus on what matters most—nurturing their children.
Position Summary
We’re looking for a bilingual and highly organized, and reliable Support Center Coordinator to help run the daily operations of our Support Center in Goleta. This is a dream position for someone seeking meaningful part-time work, with a passion for helping the community, building a volunteer base, engaging with the public, collaborating with partner organizations and volunteers — and who finds joy in organizing essential (and adorable!) baby items.
The Mothers’ Helpers Support Center, a 1,000 sq ft commercial space, is where donated items are received and stored, and where families come to pick up baby essentials after submitting an application. The Coordinator will handle day-to-day operational tasks and will also be cross-trained to support the Program Manager.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Sort incoming donations, manage inventory, and fill orders
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers; oversee their shifts and maintain engagement
- Greet and assist families during scheduled pickups with kindness and professionalism
- Communicate with families, partners and volunteers via phone, email, and text (in English and Spanish)
- Provide Spanish-English interpretation and translation as needed
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to prepare and fulfill application requests
- Keep the Support Center clean, safe, well-stocked, and efficiently organized
- Support administrative and program-related tasks as needed
Schedule: This is a part-time 18-20 hour position with flexibility, with required work shifts on Sundays at the Support Center from 2-4 PM 3 out of 4 weekends a month. Ideal weekdays would include Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
- Ability to work on location at our Support Center in Goleta
- Organization skills that would make Marie Kondo proud
- Experience managing groups and providing training
- Self-starter, self-motivated
- Strong communication skills
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Proficient with email, phone, and texting
- Proficient with G Suite, especially Sheets
- Proficient knowledge of essential baby items appropriate for specific ages and needs like car seats, strollers, etc.
- Ability to lift at least 40 lbs and move baby equipment like cribs, strollers, and car seats off shelves and into vehicles
Bonus skills or experience:
- Inventory management or procurement
- Experience or knowledge of various social service programs, agencies, and procedures for low-income families in Santa Barbara County
- College degree
- Experience with volunteer management systems
- Ability to speak Mixteco
- Social Media and community outreach
