THE ORGANIZATION:
St. Vincent’s is a Roman Catholic organization sponsored and operated by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, which provides programs for children, families, and seniors that are based on community needs. St. Vincent’s is the longest continuously operating human service agency in Santa Barbara. St. Vincent’s began operations in 1858.
PURPOSE:
Serves as Senior Accountant and assistant to the Controller in accordance with the goals, objectives, and the Mission of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. In this capacity, the Senior Accountant performs regular and complex accounting duties with general supervision. Responsibilities include analysis and maintenance of accounting records, preparing reconciliations, accounting schedules, and financial statements. Oversees and assists with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Cash Accounts. Assists with budget preparation, preparation of external audits and tax filings, and accrued liabilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree; or has equivalent experience.
- Has minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting; preferably four (4) years of experience.
- Is knowledgeable with GAAP and not-for-profit rules of accounting.
- Is proficient with Microsoft Office applications, accounting software, spreadsheets and report writing.
- Has working experience with ADP payroll systems and data extraction.
- Demonstrates leadership at a professional level.
- Is able to work as a team member, while possessing the ability to work independently with a strong level of organizational skills.
- Has excellent interpersonal communication skills and is able to work effectively with staff and clients.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
- Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
- Is conscientious in follow-through on job requirements and has the ability to be a self-starter.
Must pass criminal background fingerprint check and pre-employment negative TB test.
The COVID-19 vaccination may be a requirement depending on the position within St. Vincent’s. The position is full–time, 40 hours/week, scheduled to work Monday – Friday. Compensation: $38.50 – $41.00 an hour, non-exempt.
