Starting Salary Range: This position is full-time with full benefits and starting out between $60,000 – $70,000.

Ensures the department’s work is carried out in keeping with Santa Barbara Humane’s mission, vision, and values.

- Experience in working in very fast paced environments with the ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities under tight deadlines.

- Technology savvy, ready to take the lead in maintaining and increasing valuable uses for donor management system.
- A good writer who has experience in development of internal and external communication pieces.
- Strong critical thinking, planning, execution, and multitasking skills and demonstrated ability to reprioritize duties.
- Interest in growing and learning new skills to help our organizational mission.
- A sincere interest in supporting and advocating for the philosophies, policies, and mission of Santa Barbara Humane, a Socially Conscious Shelter.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and CRM software.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Available to work evening and weekends as needed.
- Valid CA. Driver’s License and insurable driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ Degree, preferably in Marketing or Communication Science, and minimum 3 years of experience in a related field
- Three to five years in donor relations and marketing
- Proven ability to raise private donations, develop and manage donor relationships, and to motivate staff and volunteers
- Experience supervising volunteers
- Experience with Q-Giv, DonorPerfect, Constant Contact, Slack & Asana
- Bi-lingual in English-Spanish
- Previous paid or volunteer animal shelter experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for supporting the long-term growth of the department
- Participates with the P&O team in the development, implementation and management of a comprehensive and strategic development program based on donor centric philosophies
- Management and growth of donor management system including research, collection, and upkeep of pertinent information key to sustainability of constituents
- Participates in overseeing and enhancing ongoing constituent cultivation, research, and recognition
- Prospect new opportunities, individuals, and funders to increase organization’s financial resources
- Solicits gifts on behalf of Santa Barbara Humane, both individually and in conjunction with the CPO, the CEO, other staff, board members and fundraising volunteers
- Manage and grow list of donors into long term investors in the mission
- Cultivate and maintain funders through in person and virtual meetings, calls, letters, emails and other communications
- Seek out speaking opportunities, presentations, and discussions for organizational leadership to promote mission, vision, and values to increase engagement and funding
- Works with the P&O team in all implementation of special events
- Secures donors, sponsors, and in-kind gifts in support of organizational initiatives and events
- Develop, secure and maintain third party event ideas and opportunities
- Contributes with the P&O team for marketing and outreach communications such as newsletters, e-communications, pleas, social content and media campaigns
- Possesses and uses high quality writing skills, in preparing materials, and presentation skills
- Assures proper planning including goal setting, strategy identification, benchmarking and evaluation to support fund development and community outreach activities
- Keeps information of current trends, issues and opportunities in non-profit development and community relations as well as general fields of animal welfare
- Assures that the organization teams are versed on the history, philosophy, programs, services, and current activities of Santa Barbara Humane
- Ensures compliance with code of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct for fundraising executives including maintaining AFP standards
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and act as a strong steward of organizational resources
- Employs economy while maintaining an acceptable level of quality and solid return on investment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work performed in shared office setting
- Regularly spend up to 8 hours sitting and using office equipment, telephone, and computers
- Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly
- Regularly work on repetitive tasks
- Occasionally lift 10-25 pounds
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, poor ventilation, heat and cold and sudden temperature changes, wet floors, machinery, zoonosis, and loud animal noises, animal waste and odors when in animal shelter.
- May require handling animals of various temperaments and size in a public setting.
- Ability to drive company vehicle county-wide.
